Before enrolling fingerprints, ensure you have:
- A SecuGen Hamster Pro HUPx fingerprint scanner
- Scanner properly connected to your computer via USB
- SecuGen driver installed on the PC (see Installing the Driver below)
- Access to Classic POS application
- Appropriate user permissions to manage employee biometric data
Installing the Driver
The SecuGen Hamster Pro HUPx requires a driver to be installed before the scanner can be used with Classic POS.
Step 1: Obtain the Driver
Download the driver from: https://secugen.com/drivers/
Step 2: Extract and Run the Installer
- Locate the downloaded file
- Right-click the file and select Extract All, then choose a destination folder
- Open the extracted folder and run the installer file (
.exe) - Follow the on-screen installation prompts and accept the licence agreement
- Click Install and wait for the installation to complete
- Click Finish when prompted
Step 3: Connect the Scanner
- Plug the SecuGen Hamster Pro HUPx into a USB port on your PC
- Windows will automatically detect the device using the newly installed driver
- Wait for the device to be ready before proceeding
Important: Always install the driver before connecting the scanner for the first time. If the scanner was connected before the driver was installed, unplug it, install the driver, then reconnect.

Step 4: Save Changes

- The employee's fingerprint data is now stored in the system
Using Fingerprint for Attendance
Once enrolled, employees can use their fingerprint to log in to Classic POS:
- Ensure the SecuGen Hamster Pro HUPx scanner is connected to the PC via USB
- Place your enrolled finger on the scanner
- During Attendance or other biometric-supported actions, the system will automatically detect the scanner type and authenticate you
How Fingerprint Data is Stored
The system stores fingerprint data securely in the database:
- Each scanner type uses a different data format
- The system uses the BIOINDEX field to store scanner-specific data
- Automatic device detection ensures the correct data format is used
- Full backward compatibility with existing Digital Persona and ZKTeco enrollments
Multi-Outlet Support
The system fully supports organisations with multiple outlets using different scanner types:
- Outlet A can use SecuGen Hamster Pro HUPx scanners
- Outlet B can use ZKTeco ZK9500 scanners
- Outlet C can use Digital Persona scanners
- Employees can be enrolled with different scanner types per outlet
