User guide to configure biometric with ZK Finger Print

Introduction

The Xilnex system supports biometric authentication using fingerprint scanners to enhance security and streamline employee login processes. Our platform now supports both ZK Finger Print and Digital Persona fingerprint scanner devices, providing flexibility for your business needs.

Getting Started

Prerequisites

Before enrolling fingerprints, ensure you have:

  1. A compatible fingerprint scanner (ZK Finger Print or Digital Persona)
  2. Scanner properly connected to your computer
  3. Access to Classic POS application
  4. Appropriate user permissions to manage employee biometric data

Enrolling Employee Fingerprints

Follow these steps to enroll an employee's fingerprint in the system:

Step 1: Access User Management

1. Open the Classic POS application on your computer

2. Click on the Xilnex Menu

3. Navigate to User Management

4. Select User List

5. Click on the user you want to enroll to open their profile for editing

Navigation Path: Classic POS > Xilnex Sidebar Menu > User Management > User List > Select User

Step 2: Select Biometric Type

6. In the user profile editor, locate the Biometric Type dropdown menu

7. Select your scanner type:

ZK Finger Print - For ZK Finger scanner devices

Digital Persona - For Digital Persona scanner devices

Step 3: Enroll Fingerprint

8. Click the Enroll Fingerprint button (fingerprint icon) next to the Biometric Type dropdown

9. Follow the on-screen instructions to scan the employee's fingerprint

10. The system will prompt you to scan the same finger multiple times for accuracy

11. Wait for the confirmation message that enrollment is successful

Step 4: Save Changes

12. After successful enrollment, click Apply to save the changes

13. The employee's fingerprint data is now stored in the system

Using Fingerprint Login

Once enrolled, employees can use their fingerprint to log in to Classic POS:

14. Ensure the fingerprint scanner is connected to the PC

15. Place your enrolled finger on the scanner

16. During Attendance or other action with biometric supported, the system will automatically detect the scanner type and authenticate you

Technical Information

How Fingerprint Data is Stored

The system stores fingerprint data securely in the database:

• Each scanner type uses a different data format

• The system uses the BIOINDEX field to store scanner-specific data

• Automatic device detection ensures the correct data format is used

• Full backward compatibility with existing Digital Persona enrollments

Multi-Outlet Support

The system fully supports organizations with multiple outlets using different scanner types:

• Outlet A can use ZK Finger Print scanners

• Outlet B can use Digital Persona scanners

• Employees can be enrolled with different scanner types per outlet

Consider enrolling multiple fingers as backup in case of injury.

Regular Scanner Cleaning

Clean the scanner surface regularly with a soft, lint-free cloth.

Proper Finger Placement

Place finger flat and centered on the scanner for consistent reads.

Test After Enrollment

Always test fingerprint login immediately after enrollment to verify success.

 

Troubleshooting

Scanner Not Detected

Problem: The system does not detect the fingerprint scanner.

Solutions:

• Verify the scanner is properly connected via USB

• Check if scanner drivers are installed correctly

• Try connecting the scanner to a different USB port

• Restart Classic POS and try again

Fingerprint Not Recognized

Problem: The scanner does not recognize the enrolled fingerprint.

Solutions:

• Ensure your finger is clean and dry

• Check that you're using the enrolled finger

• Place your finger flat and centered on the scanner

• Clean the scanner surface

• Re-enroll the fingerprint if issues persist

Enrollment Fails

Problem: Cannot complete fingerprint enrollment.

Solutions:

• Verify the correct biometric type is selected

• Ensure consistent finger placement during all scans

• Try enrolling a different finger

• Contact support if the issue continues
