Congiure a Client KDS - Connect to a Host KDS

KDS Client

A KDS Client Device in Xilnex KDS 2.0 is a display screen (such as a tablet, monitor, or smart TV) located at a specific kitchen station (e.g., Grill, Bar, or Cold Station). Its primary function is to receive and display orders sent from the central Host KDS device. The configuration and behavior of a Client Device are determined by the KDS Profile assigned to it by the Host Device. This profile acts as a set of rules that tells the client device:
  1. Which orders to show: It filters orders based on categories (e.g., only show "Alcohol" items for the Bar station).
  2. How to display them: It sets the visual layout, font sizes, and color themes (light/dark mode).
  3. Workflow stages: It defines the bumping process (e.g., Order -> Start -> Done).
There can only be one Host Device active at a time, which acts as the central "manager" for the entire network. This single Host is responsible for receiving orders from the POS and syncing them to all other screens. However, you can connect multiple Client Devices to this Host. These Client Devices act as the "workers," displaying orders for different stations (like Grill, Bar, or Expo) based on the profiles assigned to them by the Host. This "One Host, Many Clients" structure ensures a single source of truth for all order statuses and prevents data conflicts across the kitchen.

1. Select 'Client Mode' on the KDS Client device

2. Enter a name device name for KDS Client

3. In this page, you shall see the Host device appearing on the screen. Select 'Connect' to connect it.
Alert
If you don't see the host device:
  1. Ensure both Host device and Client device are connecting to the same network (same WiFi SSID).
  2. Ensure at least a device in the network is setup as a Host device. Learn how.
  3. If nothing shows up, try using 'Connect manually' and fill in the host IP to connect.

4. Next, enter the Pairing Code.
To find the pairing code, go to the host device and select 'Device Monitoring'
Take note of the pairing code and enter it on the Client device.
Idea
If the code doesn't work, go to the Host device and reset it then try again.

5. Successfully connected.
